for eight musicians(2007)
Duration : ca. 8 mins.
One summer day as I sat confined in my room, I listened to something outside of my window. This something was nothing. Bu nothing was something to me. Some workers were renovating an old wall, scraping an scratching the tired render from the crumbling bricks. In the meantime a huge metal door swung slowly in the wind around the corner, making a sound like the high squeal of an oboe, performing various pitches that changed from day to day. After a while I retuned to Seoul for Christmas holiday and felt a huge difference in the pace of life from that of the Hague. I decided to take this idea of the two different paces and use it as a changing tempo in the piece. In this way I could way that this piece was inspired by my environment and my situation as well.
