Both her string quartet ‘melody, notes, five(2007)’ and ‘a_ae_i_o_u’ originate from the same idea, namely, that of simplicity within a limited pitch organization. The heavy pulsation is inspired by Vivaldi’s music, starting with a single note that becomes two marcato notes with a strong pulse. Although there are no major structural or harmonic changes, there is a huge explosion, originating from the earth, within the different movements and tempi.
