Ji-Sun Yang (*1979, born in Seoul, South Korea) started to play the piano with her mother when she was four years old. She studied composition at Sook-myung Women’s University in Seoul until 2002 and in 2003 she moved to the Netherlands continuing study at the Hague Royal Conservatoire for BA/MA until December, 2007. She studied with Sue-Yeon Hong, Gilius van Bergeijk and Martijn Padding. In 2008 she is studying Sonology at the Hague school and composing for Percussion Group the Hague and the Schoenberg Ensemble project for concerts in early 2009.
One of her works was performed several times by ASKO Ensemble in Amsterdam including for Gaudeamus music week 2007 and also ‘SoundTrunk’ was composed for Ensemble Klang, performed in Maastricht and in the Hague (2006). She attended to the summer course in Ostrava days 2007 and she took lessons with Alvin Lucier and in 2008 February she attended to Apeldoorn young composers meeting in Febuary 2008. The piece written for Ereprijs was presented one more time in Gaudeamus music festival 2008 in Amsterdam. For a signature concert of composers, commisioned by ensemble Klang, she composed thirty seconds signature piece for them in May 2008. the Hague. Recently she was invited to Bang on a Can festival as a residency composer in Massachussets U.S.A., July 2008.
